Film Night

Fri, 21 Sep 2018 19:30

'THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY, ' which is based on the 2008 best-selling novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows (her niece). Shaffer died without finishing the book, but children's author Barrows completed the story and set about getting it published. The story is set in 1946 in postwar Guernsey and follows the experiences of Juliet Ashton, a journalist and author researching stories about the German occupation during the Second World War. With the use of flashbacks, the story is told of the small literary group and their involvement with the resistance. The stars include Lily James, Tom Courtenay and Penelope Wilton.
In addition to the excitement of this excellent movie, you will have a chance to be among the first to inspect (and use, if necessary) the refurbished toilet facilities at the Market House, this experience alone is surely worth the £5 ticket price.

Tickets from Market Stores or on the door.
