Community Support Following the Recent Brimscombe Tragedy
Minchinhampton Parish Council extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of those affected by the tragic house fire in Brimscombe on Boxing Day. Our thoughts are also with the wider community, who have been understandably shaken by this devastating news.
At this very difficult time, many people have asked how they can offer support. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Tom following the fire, to assist with the practical challenges he is now facing. A link to donate can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/helping-rebuild-after-an-unimaginable-loss
We are also grateful to local organisations and churches who are offering safe, welcoming spaces for reflection, prayer, and quiet support:
Holy Trinity, Minchinhampton will be open on Monday 5 January, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, for members of the community. Visitors are welcome to light a candle, write a prayer or message, or simply sit quietly. A prayer tree will be available. This space is open to anyone who wishes to pause, reflect, and hold those affected in their thoughts and prayers. You are welcome to stay for as long or as little time as you wish.
Holy Trinity, Brimscombe will be opening their doors daily for those who may wish to come together, pray, or simply be with others. Opening times can be found on their website: https://brimscombechurch.org.uk
The Sanctuary at Brimscombe Mill is also offering a safe space for members of the community to come together and reflect. They will be open over the coming days between 2:00pm and 8:00pm.
Additional support is available through the British Red Cross, who can be contacted on 0808 196 3651:
10:00am–8:00pm on Mondays and Thursdays
10:00am–5:00pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
